My Review:

Hildie McQueen never disappoints when it comes to these historical romance stories. I am a fan for life.  Big Sky Blue was short and sweet.  But it was also filled with the gorgeous background scenery of Alder’s Gulch, Montana in 1838.   I enjoyed reading the tale of cattle rancher, Hank Cole, and how he came to meet Virginia socialite, Elizabeth Dawson.   Both are total opposites, yet are looking for the same things in life.  But timing is everything right?  Hank is once bitten twice shy but how can he resist the intelligent and beautiful Elizabeth?  I recommend Big Sky Blue to any woman who loves western historical romances, you won’t be disappointed. Big Sky Blue made me smile and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling, which is a GOOD thing!

About the Author:

I write Historical Western Romance as well as Paranormal Romance, with a touch of Historical here and there. I’ve also published eight Highlander Historical Erotic short stories. I am a member of Romance Writers of America, as well as Georgia Romance Writers and Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal Chapters of RWA.

For fun I spend a lot of time with my girlfriends. My wonderful hubby is my partner in crime for traveling. We love to jump in the car or sometimes his motorcycle and head to the mountains, the city or the beach.

Costal Magic Convention 2014, Daytona Beach, FL

Hi everyone!!! If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’re a huge fan of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Luckily for you… there’s a con for that!

This week, Coastal Magic Convention is opening public registration for next year’s weekend of awesome with authors and readers of UF/PNR fiction. February 6-9, in Daytona Beach, FL, we’ll be hanging out, chatting, and participating in general tomfoolery with some fantastic people. There are Featured Authors are names that you’ll recognize immediately (random sqeeing is permitted, although tacklehugs must be announced and approved prior to the weekend), and some are bound to become new favorites. Join us for panels, meet & greets, bad movie snarking, and all around fun times. Registration is only $70 for the weekend’s full schedule of panels, meet & greets, large author signing, and Character Mixer. There are a few special activities that will require additional tickets. These activities are limited in number, and are very reasonably priced. More details are available on the Coastal Magic Convention website.

Last year’s inaugural event (Olde City, New Blood in St. Augustine, FL) was a blast. I’m confident that this year’s party will be even more fun!! As a special treat… NYT Bestselling author Kevin J Anderson (who won’t be with us this year, due to scheduling conflicts) has offered up a gift for the first 50 people who register during this Blog Blast!!! Huge thanks to Kevin for that, and we hope to have him with us next year! (Gift will be included in your welcome bag at the event.)

– The Bad Movie Tweet-up is back!!! This year’s showing of The Covenant, with Master Snarker Damon Suade, was absolutely hilarious. Next year’s title is a secret for now, but rest assured it is worthy. We’ll have a hashtag for everyone who wants to follow along and pitch in from home. Be sure to RSVP early if you want to be a part of this opening night activity.

I personally attended last years Olde City, New Blood in St. Augustine, FL and had such a great time.  The weather was perfect the whole time. I met so many authors and fans it was just an incredible experience.  There was so much going on, it was amazing how much Jennifer was able to pack into one weekend.  Never a dull moment and all the authors were very friendly and all around freaking awesome.  My personal fav’s from last year were Dianna Love, Hildie McQueen, and James R. Tuck which I attended a panel they held.  The featured authors this coming year is so impressive and huge, February 2014 can’t come soon enough!

Book Review: Where the Four Winds Collide by Hildie McQueen

Synopsis:

Adeline Buckley escapes her abusive father only to find herself in a brothel, on a stagecoach to the untamed west and married to a stranger, all in that order. Plotting another escape becomes harder, the more she gets to know her new husband.

Jackson Pruitt didn’t expect a secretive mail order bride to show up the same week cattle wrestlers absconded with a large part of his herd. The bigger surprise was the loveliness of the woman. Why would a beauty like her need to travel so far to marry?

Jackson and Adeline learn that secrets and marriage do not go hand-in-hand when both of their pasts comes knocking and both have to come to grips with the reality, that sometimes trust comes only after you lose it all.

My Review:

The story starts in Widow’s Rock, VA, 1865, with Adeline a 23 year old woman trying to escape a horribly abusive situation with her father and fiance. She ends up in the small town of Four Winds, TX, where she meets Jackson Pruitt, a lonely cattle rancher. As the tale between Adeline and Jackson wove its way into my heart, I was amazed and shocked at the twists and perils they would have to over come to get a chance at happiness together. The choice between truth and lies is something we all struggle with at one point in our lives and we all have to live with the consequences. This is a hard lesson for Adeline to learn; my heart absolutely broke for how much she went through in her young life. I held my breath nearly every page I turned praying she’d get the happiness she so much deserved.

Jackson and Heath Pruitt, now there’s a set of brothers that are nothing less than pure hot Texas cowboys. I could feel the depth of the brothers relationship; a deep bond forged from abandonment from their father and loss of their mother at such a young age. They are truly survivors. The brothers also have all the charm, wit, and handsome ruggedness you crave from a Texan. And then there’s Billy Johnson, the ex-fiance of Adeline, who is one evil SOB. But would he get his just deserts?

This is a complete historical romance that blew me away! I can’t wait for Hildie’s next in the series: Westbound Awakening which is due out October 2013.
